Great Beginnings
In the mid 1980s, the property/casualty market hardened while rates dramatically increased. Many school districts across the state even feared that certain insurance coverages would become restricted or even unavailable. In 1987, the Illinois School District Agency was formed with 17 members to provide price stability and broad property/ casualty coverage. Today, more than 185 school districts rely on ISDA. Our steadily increasing membership, competitive pricing, and flexible insurance coverage continue to demonstrate that Illinois school districts are building security with
us.
Who Runs the ISDA?
The ISDA's Board of Regents. The Board has been an integral force in ensuring that ISDA's members are provided with the best coverage. Comprised of school district board members and administrators, the ISDA Regents have a deep interest in the future of Illinois public school education. The Regents demand that ISDA's members receive sound pricing and coverage in times when budgets are tight. In this way, members can focus on what really counts: schools and education.
The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) has sponsored ISDA since its formation.
The ISDA is the only property/casualty pool for Illinois school districts that can claim any sponsorship.
In addition to competitively priced, comprehensive coverage, ISDA members receive several benefits of membership. Controlling losses and preventing accidents are two of ISDA's main objectives; therefore, ISDA created a loss control program to continually address these concerns in relation to Illinois school districts' property/casualty coverage needs.
